It is aimed at those under 25 who live or work in remote/isolated areas to help them to access employment or training. We have 20 scooters and this project improves life opportunities for young people. |
The scheme was initially set up as a pilot project in the Bingley Rural area covering: Bingley, Harden, Wilsden and Cullingworth, now though the scheme has been extended and covers the whole of the Bradford Metropolitan District Area.
What is the scheme?
Wheels 2 Work (W2W) is the loan scheme of a 50cc Piaggio moped for young people aged 16 - 25, enabling them to get to and from their place of work, sixth form local education, College and university.
What does the scheme provide?
Moped, Helmet, Wet Weather Suit, Gloves, High Viz Jacket, Security chain and lock. Full comprehensive Insurance and Breakdown Recovery are also included.
Who is eligible?
Young people must:
- Be aged 16-25.
- Live in the Bradford Metropolitan District.
- Be working (F/T or P/T) on work placement, or at college full time.
- Have difficulty using public transport due to time, availability (e.g. having to catch 2 buses) or geography (e.g. not near a bus route).
- Be in possession of a provisional driving licence.
