Social Car Scheme The social car scheme is now operating in the Bingley area. The service operates using volunteer drivers who pick you up from your home, take you to your appointment, wait for you, and return you home safely again. A charge of £2.00 is payable for journeys up to 5 miles, for journeys over 5 miles a charge of 50p per mile is payable. Please note this is not a taxi company! The service is only available to patients who are registered at the Canalside Health Centre in Bingley and need assistance with travelling to and from GP and hospital or clinic appointments - for example if they have mobility problems, a lack of public transport or a lack of private transport. Journeys need to be booked with Shipley and Bingley Voluntary Services at least 2 working days prior to the journey. The service relies entirely on volunteers, and without them we could not operate. Therefore we cannot always guarantee that we can find you a driver.
