Shipley and Bingley Voluntary Services
Shipley and Bingley Voluntary Services (SBVS) was formed in May 2008 with the merger of Bingley Voluntary Action and Shipley Council for Voluntary Services. SBVS is an independent voluntary organisation and registered charity, managed by a voluntary management committee.
We serve the community in the following ways:-
Support to local community & voluntary groups
Our primary role is to act as an infrastructure support organisation, supporting voluntary organisations across the Shipley Constituency. SBVS is one of the three councils for voluntary services (CVS) in the district. In this role we support groups in the following ways:-
- governance advice, helping organisations either to form or to make changes to their legal structure
- advising on policies and procedures which are often a pre-requisite to funding applications
- supporting management committees to resolve issues or problems
- a range of other practical guidance and signposting to specialist organisations
Providing services of benefit to the local community
We provide a range of services for the local community, primarily in the Bingley area, including social day care, befriending, a wellbeing project and community transport. Looking for space to hold a meeting in Bingley or run a community activity? SBVS runs two community centres in Bingley town centre - Cardigan House and Little House. Both are available to hire daytime, evenings and weekends.
